The new owner of Vysoká škola hotelová v Praze 8, s.r.o. (Institute of Hospitality Management) is United College Prague a.s.
After five years, the ownership structure of Vysoká škola hotelová v Praze 8, s.r.o. (Institute of Hospitality Management) has changed. Upon mutual agreement and based on the decision of the General Meeting, the company L-BILG, s.r.o. which was the sole owner, sold a 100% business share in Vysoká škola hotelová v Praze 8, s.r.o. (IHM) to the United College Prague, a.s. (UCP).
The entire business transaction was completed on November 13, 2020 and applies also to the company První soukromá hotelová škola, s.r.o. (The First Private Hotel School). With effect from November 13, 2020, Dávid Melas, MPhil, became the new CEO of both companies. The UCP portfolio includes mainly the operation of private universities in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. Currently, Dávid Melas, MPhil., participates in the management of Vysoká škola mezinárodních a veřejných vztahů Praha, o.p.s. (College of International and Public Relations in Prague, VŠMVV) and Soukromá vysoká škola ekonomická Znojmo s.r.o. (Private College of Economic Studies, SVŠE). Vysoká škola hotelová v Praze 8, s.r.o. (IHM) will join these two private universities. "Further acquisitions are being prepared to the future with the aim of building the largest Czech-Slovak private university," said Dávid Melas, MPhil., the new CEO of the IHM.
The former CEO of the IHM, Ing. Petr Studnička, PhD., will no longer participate in the economic, business or operational management of the IHM. However, by mutual agreement, he will continue to work at the IHM for at least two years as an academic staff member and will remain not only the Head of the Department of Hotel Management, who is also in charge of the Department of Travel and Tourism Studies, but also the guarantor of the professionally oriented bachelor degree program in Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism, Marketing. "Several companies and investment groups expressed interest in purchasing the IHM. After assessing all the criteria, we most agreed within L-BILG with the ideas about the further development of the IHM with the plan of the UCP and its director David Melas, to whom I wish much success in the further development of the IHM. He is taking over the management of the company and the university during the COVID-19 pandemic, that is why I wish him even more success, "said Petr Studnička, the former CEO of the IHM.
With regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, no fundamental changes in the organizational structure or operation of the IHM are planned during the academic year 2020/2021. The handover of the agenda will take place gradually with the full cooperation of both parties to the business transaction in order to ensure the smooth operation of the IHM, both in the academic and operational parts.
